"And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." (Matthew 3:10)

Currently Reading

  • The Holy Bible <-- The Living Word!
  • A New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith <-- Apart from the Holy Bible this is by far the best Christian resource book I've ever encountered. It's comprehensive, readable, and completely Christ-centered and God honoring.
  • Morning and Evening by C.H. Spurgeon <-- As suggested by its title this wonderful devotional by the "Prince of Preachers" has a morning and evening reading selection from the King James Bible with commentary. May God be praised for dead theologians like Charles Haddon Spurgeon whose Christ-centered words are more alive and filled with God's truth than the man-centered drivel of a hundred of today's watered down, worldly, compromising false teachers combined.
  • The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers <-- The title is self explanatory, 'nuff said!
  • The Sovereignty of God <-- Reportedly this work shocked the evangelical world when it was published in 1919 and oh how much more does the modern professing circus church of Laodicea need to be shocked from her lethargic slumber in these last days! A.W. Pink thunders forth the absolute and majestic sovereignty of God with verve and forcefully demands that men grapple with some of the most profound questions that can be engaged by the human mind. I look forward to being challenged by this work again and again!

Recently Read & Recommended

  • All of Grace <-- A book length gospel tract penned by the "Prince of Preachers" - don't miss this one!
  • Always Ready: Directions for Defending the Faith <-- I wish I could have met Greg Bahsen; surely one of the finest minds and humblest servants of God who ever lived.
  • Because the Time is Near <-- This world hasn't seen the last of Jesus Christ. Today He's despised, ridiculed, spit upon, mocked, scoffed at, and rejected. But we who are called by His Holy Name know that His coming is nigh, even at the door. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
  • Desiring God <-- John Piper never fails to stir my spirit with his laser beam focus on the Absolute Glory and Incomparable Holiness of the One True and Living God. I highly recommend this book to you!
  • Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die <-- John Piper serves up a heaping helping of Biblical truth about the eternal purposes of Christ's incarnation!
  • Foundations of Grace: A Long Line of Godly Men <-- This book is the first in the Foundations of Grace series and represents a thrillingly God-centric and theologically sound work! Highly recommended!
  • God's Gift of Christmas <-- That chubby little baby in a manger that you like to coo about during Christmas each year is the Infinite Creator and Sovereign Judge of the universe. If you've not bowed your knee before Him as your Lord and Savior then you should be very uncomfortable about the nature of your relationship to the Christ of Christmas.
  • Gospel Fear <-- In this book Jeremiah Burroughs (1599 - 1646) challenges us today as even as he challenged the men of his own day. Burroughs well said: "Reverence has nearly vanished in our day. We have become irreverent towards holy things through our ignorance of God and His holiness. Were we to have Isaiah's vision of the holiness of God, we would be changed indeeed." It's my prayer that God Almighty would restore fear, awe, and reverence for His holiness as He has revealed it within the Holy Bible to the true believers of our day!
  • Hard To Believe: The High Cost and Infinte Value of Following Jesus Christ <-- Take up your cross Christian and dive into the cost and glory of true discipleship with John MacArthur
  • Humility: True Greatness <-- This is the first book I've purchased from C.J. Maheny, but upon reading it I'm confident that it certainly won't be the last! “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” - 1 Peter 5:5; "This is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit" - Isaiah 66:2. I bought this book because I desire and need godly humility and I pray that I would never give my King occasion to oppose me because of my sinful pride but would give Him occasion to look to me and grant me a contrite and humble spirit.
  • The Gospel According to Jesus <-- Read it, then re-read it! Grab your Bible and get ready because this book is the antidote to the watered down, easy-believism of modern evangelicalism!
  • The Harsh Truth About Public Schools <-- Can you say "Homeschool"? If you are a Christian parent who cares about the wellbeing of your children then you owe it to yourself to read this book. It's a no holds barred expose on the sorry and virulently anti-Christian state of the government school system. Secular humanism masquerading as neutrality in the public schools is the bane of our times and a curse upon our posterity.
  • The Knowledge of the Holy <-- A.W. Tozer leaves a smoldering crater where sinful man's gross and perverse conception of a small and weak God used to stand. In this treatise on the attributes of God Tozer smashes our idols into dust before the all consuming and indescribable One True and Living God as He has revealed Himself within the pages of His Word, the Holy Bible. This is an absolute MUST READ for every professing Christian!
  • The Marketing of Evil <-- Author David Kupelian deftly connects the dots and presents overwhelming evidence that exposes the corrupt, soul-destroying empire which feeds off and ecourages the downward spiral of social and moral decay via the power of mass media.
  • The Soul's Quest for God <-- R.C. Sproul has written this magnificent tome which represents a no-nonsense, no holds barred, and doctrinally astute guidebook on the process of sanctification. I highly recommend this book, and I personally found that I benefitted from reading it AFTER having read John Piper's magnum opus, "Desiring God".
  • The Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception <-- From where I sit I can't think of any spiritual gift that's more lacking or needful in the professing church than Biblical spiritual discernment. Thus far The Truth War is a clarion call for true believers to be "always ready with an answer" when we're confronted by the rampant deception of our age. Equip yourself with this powerful testimony to the true Jesus Christ of scripture.
  • Twelve Extraordinary Women <-- John MacArthur serves up a complementarian tome to his acclaimed book "Twelve Ordinary Men". TEW is an excellent piece and, as always, I'm learning Biblical fact from J-Mac's inimitable Christ-centered writing style.
  • Twelve Ordinary Men <-- I laughed, I cried, I can't tell if I'm more like Peter or James! God bless and keep John MacArthur!
  • Van Til's Apologetic: Readings and Analysis <-- Editor's Note: This book is AWESOME! Heady stuff which includes everything you ever wanted to know about Van Til's groundbreaking work in the field of presuppositional apologetics! A serious and timely book for this present darkness!
